The show was first produced in 1967 in Los Angeles, but was not published until 1971 when the Dramatists Play Service in New York published it. The tour continued to the Westport Playhouse (Connecticut), the Cape Playhouse (Boston), the Lakewood Theatre (Maine), and the Ivoryton Playhouse (Connecticut). The play resumed at the Chicago Civic Theatre in January and February 1972, the Parker Playhouse (Ft. Lauderdale), and finally, the Hyde Park Playhouse (New York) in July 1972.
